Yes, I know, it’s been over a year since my last post. Busy busy busy doesn’t even describe my life! Hoping to slow down a bit and enjoy it more. I believe it’s fitting my first post is on Isaac’s 8th birthday. Here is my big 8-year-old:

10. What is your favorite song?Doesn’t have one

12. Who is your best friend? Matthew, Xander and Diego

13. What is your favorite cereal? Cheerios

14. What is your favorite thing to do outside? Play soccer

15. What is your favorite drink? 7-up (uh-huh, only when he’s sick!)

17. What do you like to take to bed with you at night? Blanket and pillow pet

Early in the morning while everyone is still sleeping and Elijah is snuggled in bed with me….

Elijah: Mommy, I want a bunny.

Me: You have a bunny remember? (Stuffed bunny that he plays with all the time)

Elijah: No, no I want a bunny that goes hipity hop (pause) one that I don’t have to make it go hipity hop.

Me: Oh you mean a real live one?

Elijah: Yes, with ears.

As you may have guessed, I love to travel. Aaron always jokes with me about how I plan our next vacation while I’m on our current vacation. And for the most part it’s true. For me, I live for food and for vacations. Okay third to Jesus and family but after that I’m all over food and vacations! This vacation came about sometime in February while surfing the internet for cheap flights anywhere. Well, anywhere for me is warm, tropical, beautiful and by an ocean. Pretty much narrows it down to Mexico and Hawaii for us. Traveling with 2 kids limits how long I am willing to be on an airplane. Hawaii was last year which was practically free by using all our points…..we didn’t pay for our hotel and payed taxes only for 4 flights. So this year, being pointless we had to find cheap flights and a cheap hotel and that we did. The U.S. has a travel advisory against going to mexico so this works out great for rebelious people like me…everything is discounted! We found flights for all four of us for under $1000. Our hotel was a two bedroom plus partial kitchen for $259(my sis payed half this so we only payed $125) for the entire week. Needless to say, we do vacations right and we do them for cheap! We did get suckered into a timeshare presentation to get discounts on activities…

Yeah! Finally we are redoing our backyard! Nothing fancy, just correcting drainage issues and getting rid of the weeds we called our lawn. When we are done I’ll post the finished product.

Gearing up for summer

Now that I have a child in the public school system, I am going to truly enjoy summers. The routine of the school year is great, but the non routine of summer is going to be even better! Not having to get up, dressed, feed and out the door by 8 will do wonders for my soul! I’m sure other moms can agree! Anyhow, this spring break was a small taste for me as to how our summer will be. We took a train to San Juan Capistrano, we went to the beach and the other days we did nothing!

I’m truly enjoying being a stay at home mom. I would miss so many things if I wasn’t at home with them. Things like…..

Elijah: Mommy, when are we going to be home?

Me: In about 15 minutes

Elijah: (Pause…) Mommy, what did you say, I didn’t hear you? My ears were closed.

Me: Isaac how was school today?

Isaac: Good…we have a new sight word, it’s ARE.

Me: Oh, like, How Are you doing today? Can you use ARE in a sentence?

Isaac: yeah, I like to play ARE matey!

Woohoo, it’s almost over and we can turn it off today (Pause……) and then we can get on the freeway! (He was so proud of himself to make that rhyme…okay mommy was a little proud too!)

It’s been a while I know!

Time is going by so quickly and I intend to blog, but I don’t. SO here I am! Lets see….well, it’s been a while…..hmmm, Aaron’s grandpa passed away. That was very sad, and I’d rather he didnt, but I feel like it brought the family closer together. For now anyways. I pray his death wasn’t in vain.

Isaac has started vision therapy. We drive to riverside twice a week until who knows when for this. It’s bittersweat because I know he needs it, but really it takes up my whole life with driving and the stuff we have to work on at home. Okay, it could be worse, I’m just venting!

We’ve been to the mountains twice this snowy/rainy season. Isaac went skiing and snowboarding for the first time. It was so fun to watch him! Both the boys had a great time in the snow and talk about it all the time!
